Shankarcharya delivers sermon at Namchi; praises Shri Pawan Chamling for the unique creation of chaar dhams; lauds him for the historical project as a unique example
‘Other States in India should learn from Sikkim’- Jagadguru Shankarcharya


Namchi, November 9, 2011; Having consecrated the much-awaited Siddeshwar Dhaam at Solophok yesterday, Jagadguru Shankarcharya Swami Swarupananda Saraswati today offered his blessings to the devotees gathered here at Bhaichung Stadium from all over the state including Chief Minister, Shri Pawan Chamling, Smt. Tika Maya Chamling, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Heads of Departments and other State Government officials
During his sermon, the Shankarcharya touched upon the spiritual wealth of India and the long tradition of dharma nurtured by generation of Indian. Saying that there is no difference of soul, the atma, what we differ is only in our physical features.
Delving deeper into spiritualism, he said people are wrong when they think and try finding eternal happiness in material pursuit. They will in fact derive inner happiness through the virtuous path of religion. Terming religion as the true and greatest friend, the Shankarcharya said that it is only through the regular practice of dharma that human being become more tolerant, forgiving and guard against negative energy that generates anger and passion in human minds. Calling Sikkim as the proponent of spiritual development, the Shankarcharya said that Sikkim has done commendable work in promoting spiritual and religious message to all people living across the country and the world.
Swami Swarupananda, who inherited the title of Shankaracharya of Dwarka in 1982, also lavished praise on Chief Minister Pawan Chamling for “his effort in respecting religious sentiments and upholding unity and communal harmony.”
On the occasion, Chief Minister offered shawl to the Shankaracharya and thanked him for blessing the people of Sikkim with his presence. The spiritual leader in turn blessed the Chief Minister and his wife by garlanding them. The State RM & DD Minister CB Karki also received blessing from the Dwaka Shankarcharya.
