 State Level I-Day Celebrations at Paljor Stadium.

     Gangtok 16 August: the state level 64th Independence Day was celebrated with full fervour and patriotism at Paljor Stadium on 15th August.

    The celebration started with the hoisting of the national flag by Chief Minister Pawan Chamling. The top brass officials from Chief Justice, Chief Secretary to Director General of Police attended the function. ITBP, SSB, SAP, IRBn, Civil Police, Home Guards, NCC Platoons, Scouts/Guides, Road Safety Platoon, Army Pipe Line, Police (Brass and Pipe Band) took part in the march past to mark the celebration.

       On the occasion, Chief Minister launched the Chief’s Minister’s Rural Universal Financial Inclusion (CMRUFI) Project. Four Women, each from four Districts of Sikkim, were handed away the biometric token cards. He also released a book on International Conference of Rhododendron.

       The students of various schools presented the mass drill and traditional dances to add more flavour to the celebration.

      SSB was adjudged as the overall best platoon with Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School as the best NCC troop, followed by Ranipool Senior Secondary School in the Second place.

      Madras regiment Army Pipe band was given away the award for the best Band.

   Sikkim Women police took away the consolation prize. The accolades were presented by the Chief Minister.
