Chief Minister Shri Pawan Chamling visits all districts- hands over relief to affected persons in Namchi, Geyzing and Gangtok

Namchi September 24, 2011: Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling today visited Jorethang and Naya Bazaar and distributed the ex gratia amount of Rs 5 Lkh to the husband of Mrs. Munni Sharma who was the only person dead during the 18th September quake from the south district and to the people of Naya bazaar who lost their house and whose house were not in condition to dwell any further during the quake so that they can shift to some temporary place for time being and also gave Rs 1 lakh each in the relief camps of Naya bazaar.
He also visited the quake affected areas of Jorethang and saw the ill fated building which collapsed and killed Mrs. Munni Sharma.
Later in the afternoon in Namchi Gymnasium hall he distributed the ex gratia amount to the people of South district whose houses were completed damaged and also to those whose house was in no condition to dwell any further.
In his addressed the Chief Minister Mr. Chamling appealed to the general public to maintain calm and peace and not to believe the rumours that has been doing rounds about the quake.
He also assured all the affected people that his government will do everything possible for them to get on to their feet.
The Chief Minister also informed that all the old monastery which has been damaged by the quake will be tried with retro fitting first to get back and protect it’s old charm and if that’s not possible then do the repairs.
Further he urged the people to work in tandem with the government in this moment of tragedy, which he termed as more then his personal grief.
Mr. Chamling further informed that those people who could not receive the ex gratia amount today will receive it from DC SDM or the BDO.
He also visited the Namchi District Hospital and saw the 7 quake victims who were admitted and paid them ex gratia amount of Rs 50,000 each, not only that he also gave Rs 10, 000 each to the other patients who were admitted there for treatment including T.B patients and assured his full cooperation and help for the treatment they’re going.
Earlier in the morning the Chief Minister also visited Siddheshwar Dham (Char Dham) in Solophok and saw the damaged done by the quake and asked the concerned officials and persons to restore the damaged portion as quickly as possible so that it can be inaugurated in the desired date
