Chief Minister Shri Pawan Chamling inspects construction work of new Sikkim House in Guwahati. ‘Provision for permanent Show Room a must in all State’s Guest Houses outside Sikkim’, directs the Chief Minister.
Gangtok, June 29, 2010: The Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Pawan Chamling inspected the ongoing construction work of new Sikkim House in Guwahati on June 28, 2010 and passed necessary instruction for quality, timely completion of the first such facility for Sikkim in the North East region. While inspecting all the aspect of the construction work, the Chief Minister made a very thoughtful observation of creating Show Room in all State’s Guest Houses located outside Sikkim. The Show Room in State Guest Houses shall act as the one-stop centre for showcasing State’s rich tradition, culture as preserved in its handicraft items and handloom products. The Centre shall display all traditional and cultural items of the State together with agri-flori products and books on Sikkim. This will invariably lead to enhancing the marketing potential of the State. Besides, showcasing of our rich ancient arts and culture shall further contribute towards national integration with the mainstream duly enriching the rich socio-cultural tapestry of the Nation nurtured since time immemorial. In the same context, the Hon’ble Chief Minister has desired that similar facility of Show Room should be provided in all Guest Houses outside Sikkim like in Kolkata and other parts of the Country. On June 29, 2010 the Chief Minister visited the Kamakhya temple for the holy darshan and offered his prayer for peace, prosperity and well being of Sikkim and the Sikkimese people. Later, the Hon’ble Chief Minister also met with His Excellency Governor of Assam Shri J.B. Patnaik and informed him about the development scenario of the State of Sikkim. While interacting with the Governor, the Chief Minister also apprised His Excellency about the development Mission 2015 set by the State Government to make Sikkim a Total Organic State, Total Literate State, Eco-friendly destination, Sikkim as Producer State, programs under horticulture and floriculture, hydel power development etc. The Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pawan Chamling was accompanied by Madam Chamling, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Shri RS Basnet and Medical Advisor to Chief Minister, Dr. MR Kotwal. During his visit to the construction site of Sikkim House, the Chief Minister was also accompanied by the Building Department officials led by its Secretary, Shri JB Subba
