Minister winds up tour to two constituencies in North
Inaugurates BAC at Passingdang
Three helipads to come up in Dzongu region, says the Chief
Minister

Mangan, 29 - 30 October, 2011: Three helipads will be
built in the Dzongu region to cater to the local transportation
and for promotion of tourism in the region, said the Chief
Minister whose entourage reached Passingdang and Namprik under
Dzongu constituency on 29th October. In the morning, at
Passingdang the Chief Minister also inaugurated newly
constructed Block Administrative Centre, Passingdang .
While addressing the public meeting at both the places the Chief
Minister directed the HoDs of the line departments to prepare
DPR of the demands place before him by the people. At the same
time, the Chief Minister also instructed the area MLA and
District Collector to look for safer alternative land for
construction of house for the displaced families. The Chief
Minister further announced that as per demand of the people the
statue of “MENSOLONG”- legend of Lepcha community will be
installed in Dzongu and added that Sikkim will be a pious region
with the statue of Guru Rinpoche, Lord Shiva and Lord Buddha in
South district, Statue of Chen Regiz in West Sikkim. At the same
time the Chief Minister said that the people will also have to
be responsible towards the society. He also called upon both
government employees and public to join hands and work together
for rebuilding and redevelopment. Referring to the proverb
“action speaks louder than words” the Chief Minister stated that
the 18 years of governance has seen a sea change in the
development of the state, the result of which is evident
everywhere. Earlier, at Passingdang the Chief Minister announced
rupees one lakh from Chief Minister Relief Fund to the next kin
of Sonam Namgyal Lepcha who died in a natural calamity on
October 29 in Dzongu area.
His last day of Dzongu began with a meeting a Hee-Gyathang
Senior Secondary School for people from Hee-Gyathang and
Lingdong Borfok GPUs. The Panchayat Secretary, Samroo Ugen
Lepcha placed a demand petition with the Chief Minister on
behalf of the people.
While addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister informed the
rebuilding of the 18th September earthquake would be taken up in
due earnest with the restoration works beginning soon, now that
the immediate repairs and relief have been completed.
Seeing the poor condition of road in Dzongu, the Chief Minister
informed that a detailed update on the 873kms of roads in the
Sikkim which fall under the jurisdiction of Border Road
Organization is being prepared and assured that he will take up
the matter with the Central Government.
Apart from demands related to earthquake relief, the Chief
Minister also sanctioned and directed priority for demands
related to community development and amenities. He also
sanctioned the construction of a multipurpose playground at
Lingdong and drinking water supply projects in the areas, among
others.
He also directed that a feasibility update be placed with him on
the demand placed by computer teachers seeking regularization of
their services. The Chief Minister further urged the people of
Dzongu to protect and conserve the natural resources and beauty
of their land.
The second half of the day saw the Chief Minister proceed to
meeting convened at the Gor Secondary School ground for the Lum/Gor/
Sangtok GPUs. The zilla member here, Chedup Lepcha, placed the
demands of the areas with the CM.
While stressing that all the damaged monasteries will be
repaired or reconstructed, he also announced the construction of
a helipad at Gor in lower Dzongu and further explained that most
of the works were being delayed due to the lengthy process of
seeking forest and environment clearance.
He also reiterated the State Government’s commitment to
construct a one storeyed house for those whose houses have been
totally collapsed and further directed the concerned department
to carry out the related works within a week.
He further pulled up the public works Department for the delay
in upgradation of Pheedang to Gor road and directed that this
task be completed at the earliest. He also assured to take up
the pending work on the Pheedang mini project. The CM he further
directed that the Gor Secondary School’s old building, abandoned
since the 18th September Earthquake, be dismantled and a new
construction taken up.
He also announced the construction of Tareng Monastery and
further said that the government will work in all transparency
in the earthquake relief works and called on the people to keep
a vigilant eye on all works as well.
