Chief Minister concludes 42-day long tour of Sikkim
-winds up tour with visit to Kabi-Tingda Constituency


November 2, 2011: On the last day of his tour to North Sikkim and the concluding day of his village to village tour yesterday November 1, 2011 the Chief Minister, Shri Pawan Chamling while addressing the public and the monks at Phodong Monastery said that he’ll be writing to the Prime Minister to facilitate the visit of His Holiness the 17th Karmapa Ogyen Thinley Dorje to Sikkim during the occasion of Lhabab Dhuechen which falls of 17th November 2011. Further he added that the Member of Parliaments of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will be activated to pursue the matter with the Central Government. The Chief Minister also announced Rs.20,00,000/- to Sotak Monastery and Rs.15,00,000/- to Lingchom Monastery. Further he directed the concerned department to complete the Bagcha to Kabi road on priority.

Speaking on the completion of Sikkim tour on 42 days, Chamling said that the tour has presented him with an opportunity to understand the genuine problems of the villagers. “During my tour, I had a chance to visit every corner of the State and understand the genuine problems of the people. All the demands and grievances have been taken positively and would be fulfilled in a phased manner”, he said during a public meeting at Bagcha under Kabi-Lungchok constituency.

The Chief Minister also assured that the local demands of Bagcha, Seven Sister Falls, Lingchom, Labrang monastery and Phodong will be fulfilled in a phased manner. He also sought more cooperation and support from all sections of the society to rebuild Sikkim.
“The State government is also framing new guidelines and building bylaws for construction of concrete structures. This will be followed by everyone”, said Chamling.

The Chief Minister accompanied by area MLA Thinly Tshering Bhutia also visited Phodong Senior secondary School which had developed cracks from earthquake.

The Chief Minister concluded his 42 days village to village tour by visiting Lingchom, kabi, Bagcha, Phodong School, labrang Monastery and Phodong Monastery and wrapped up his tour by thanking all the cabinet ministers,MLA’s, Chairpersons, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, former Chief Secretary, Heads of the department, District Collectors, SP’s of the Districts, civil and police officers and district officers, government employees, panchayats, media personnel, teachers, students, general public and everyone involved directly and indirectly in the success of the 42 days long village to village tour. The Chief Minister wrapped up his tour by urging for more and serious public participation in coordination and cooperation with the government for redevelopment and rebuilding of the state.
