Chief Minister visits North Sikkim to reach out to quake victims
Handovers cash and relief materials


Mangan, September 23, 2011: The Chief Minister Shri Pawan Chamling reached Mangan today via Dikchu to personally reach out to the earthquake victims, and interact with district officials about the extent of damage done and the status of relief operation in the District. He also distributed ex-gratia payment @ Rs. 5 lakh each and other grants to the affected people.
Along the route to Mangan, the Chief Minister stopped at various places to meet the victims. He also visited the old Ringhim Monastery which has been totally damaged and ordered that the Monastery would be rebuilt afresh. He also handed over immediate relief of Rs. 50,000 to the monastery authority.
During his mass interaction with all the victims both in Hospitals and relief camps, the Chief Minister cautioned the people against unfounded rumours being circulated by vested interest parties and not to give heed to them. In order that the relief work reach the victims at the shortest time, the Chief Minister informed the people about allocating certain amount of money to each Panchayat, Dzumsas, BDOs and the District Collectors.
# Gram Panchayat Unit Rs. 5 lakhs,
# Pipon of Lachen and Lachung Rs. 10 lakhs each
# District Collector Rs. 50 lakhs each,
# Sub Division Magistrate Rs. 10 lakhs
# Block Development Officers Rs. 5 Lakhs each to the over and above their regular miscellaneous expenditure for relief and rehabilitation work.
# Relief camps One lakh each
