Chief Minister Shri Chamling dedicates CATCH mission to Mother Teresa Also dedicates the newly built Emergency Ward at STNM complex to people
Gangtok: August 26, 2010 : Conceptualized by the Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling himself, and a first of its kind in India “Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Annual & Total Cheek up for Healthy Sikkim or CATCH was formally inaugurated today by the Chief Minister Mr. Chamling in a function held in the capital town today. CATCH Sikkim is a historic and path breaking initiative taken by Mr. Chamling which has a priority health commitment and its mission is to prove systematic and comprehensive health cheek up which is promotional to all citizens of the state, on annual basis closest to their doorsteps, so as to enable them to know their health status and help them to maintain good health by spotting and early diagnosis of potential risk factors and diseases in their early stage to provide curative and rehabilitative health care , and collectively take up appropriate individual and community interventions to work toward making Sikkim one of the healthiest state in the nation by 2015 Chief Minister Mr. Chamling in his inaugural address inform that the main objective of CATCH Sikkim is to make the people of the state healthy and free of diseases and called upon everyone to give the programme profound importance and contribute collectively to make it a success. The day which also marked the birth centenary of Mother Teresa, prompted the Chief Minister to dedicate this mission of health card to the greatest and most compassionate social worker of the century, and Mr. Chamling also announced that from the day onwards, the stretch between St Thomas road to Yata Yat Bhawan in the capital will be named as Mother Teresa Road. Later in the day, Shri Chamling also dedicated a newly set up Emergency Ward of the STNM Hospital to the people. Equipped with modern, scientific medical gadgets, the Emergency Ward has ample space to provide emergency first-aid treatment to people. As the prestigious and the most popular medical centre, the Government has added a new infrastructure to cater to the growing number of patients coming from across the State. |
