Gangtok, July 04, 2010:
The Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Pawan Chamling reached the famous Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu today and joined the fellow devotees for the evening arati. On reaching the Vaishno Devi shrine, Shri Chamling was accorded a warm welcome by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Shri Raspal Singh. The Chief Minister and Smt. Tika Maya Chamling offered prayer at the shrine for the well being, peace and progress of Sikkim and the Sikkimese people.

The Chief Minister took keen interest on the quality and extent of facilities developed to promote pilgrimage tourism in the region and took note of the quality infrastructure available for the general devotees visiting the shrine.

It may be mentioned that Sikkim itself is fast emerging as the pilgrimage destination for people following different faiths. Guru Rimpoche statue at Samdruptse, Buddha Park project, Char Dham project, chen regiz project in West Sikkim and an underground monastery in North Sikkim are some of the projects already installed or are the upcoming pilgrimage centres in the State.
